Four-year-old Phillip Jannetta of Aspinwall enjoyed the Bike with a Cop event on Sept. 17.

Four-year-old Phillip Jannetta of Aspinwall couldn’t quite keep up with the pack during the Aspinwall police “Bike with a Cop” event on Sept. 17.

The new rider, however, had a great time cruising around town with the officers, according to Phillip’s mom, Rachel Jannetta.

“For safety reasons, we had to detour onto smoother streets and it made for a longer route, a longer time,” she said.

“But he had such a great time and loves our police officers.”

The event ended at Ben Killian Baseball Field and riders were treated to pizza afterward.

Later that same evening, the department showed “Boss Baby” on the big screen and handed out free popcorn to attendees.

Chief Dave Nemec said previously that it was a way to build trust with the children and engage in conversation.

Police have been offering the community-building program for the past few years.
