Hundreds of folks packed Aspinwall streets earlier this month for the annual Fall in the Wall celebration.

Aspinwall Chamber of Commerce presented its autumn festival Oct. 11.

There was face painting, pumpkin painting, pony rides, a petting zoo, a deejay, balloon artists, music, magicians, arts and crafts, food trucks and more.

Borough first responders had some informational tables and activities for children, as well as vehicles for families to explore. Foxwall EMS brought one of its ambulances.

EMS Deputy Chief Jen Swab and EMT Sarah Pointek conducted face painting and art activities with families, offering health and safety tips along the way. Their table was next to the Aspinwall police table by the borough building.

“We painted probably 50 faces,” Swab said on Oct. 16. “We had a line. The kids had a blast. Lots of people bring their animals, too. It was an awesome day. I just love interacting with the community. It doesn’t matter what age the person is who comes up to the table. Interacting with the community is essential in public safety.”

Southern Allegheny Valley Emergency Services volunteers distributed plastic firefighter hats, candy and fire safety tips.

Council president Jeff Harris was among the many borough officials taking in the sights and sounds of the day.

“It’s one of the major events of our town and it’s awesome,” Harris said on Oct. 16. “It was awesome weather, great turnout and another tremendous Aspinwall tradition. Great family event, not just for residents but friends of residents and those that were visiting. My favorite part was seeing all the families and kids enjoying themselves.”
