Fountain flows for the season at Point State Park
The fountain at Point State Park is flowing for the season.
This is the 47th year for the fountain, which has become a landmark at the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers at Point State Park in Downtown Pittsburgh.
An old friend in @DowntownPitt is back for its 47th season!

Crews from the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources turned the fountain on Monday morning.
At full pressure, the fountain pumps 17,000 gallons of chlorinated water per minute from an aquifer under the rivers.
Before it’s turned on, the fountain is scrubbed by DCNR crew members and repaired for any damages from wintry weather.
Last year, the fountain’s start was delayed until June because of the pandemic. It is generally turned on at the beginning of May.
In 2018, it was damaged by flooding. A $35 million renovation of the landmark was completed in 2013 and, last year, its lights were replaced with a new LED system.
