Cars pass over the Fort Duquesne Bridge in Pittsburgh Sunday evening, May 1, 2022.

PennDOT says overnight closures of the outbound (northbound) Fort Duquesne Bridge will happen Friday and Saturday night, weather permitting.

Crews will remove pavement markings and replace them with new, durable pavement markings on the outbound, upper deck of the bridge (I-279) from 9 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday, and from about 11:59 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday.

PennDOT says bad weather may make it necessary for work to happen from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday — requiring a closure of the Fort Duquesne Bridge and associated ramps. Motorists will be notified in advance.

The closures come on the heels of similar April shut downs on the Fort Pitt Bridge and Tunnel and the Liberty Tunnel.
