Pittsburgh firefighter treated for heat exhaustion at house fire in Allegheny West

Firefighters responded to a fire in the 900 block of Western Avenue on Pittsburgh’s North Side around 12:40 a.m. Wednesday.

A Pittsburgh firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion after battling a fire that broke out early Wednesday at a home in Allegheny West, according to Tribune-Review news partner WPXI-TV.

Fire crews responded shortly after 12:40 a.m. to the 900 block of Western Avenue, according to Allegheny County emergency dispatchers.

The fire was elevated to two alarms around 1:15 a.m. after crews reported finding flames in the walls of the home and heavy smoke, authorities said.

WPXI was told by city public safety officials that the firefighter was treated by paramedics at the scene.

There were no other injuries reported.
