Pittsburgh firefighters respond to a blaze on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, that was contained to a first-floor restaurant at the US Steel Tower Downtown.

No injuries were reported Tuesday evening as Pittsburgh firefighters quickly contained a blaze in a first-floor restaurant at the U.S. Steel Tower Downtown.

The fire was reported just after 7:30 p.m., according to an Allegheny County 911 dispatch supervisor.

Flames were contained to Sullivan’s Steakhouse, which opened last fall in a 7,600-square-foot space at 600 Grant St.

According to reports on the Pittsburgh Public Safety Twitter account, the fire was located in the restaurant’s kitchen. Firefighters worked to knock down flames extending into related duct work.

The three-alarm fire was declared under control shortly after 8:30 p.m. Investigators were working to determine the cause of the blaze.

It wasn’t clear how many patrons or staff were inside the restaurant when the fire broke out.

“Evacuation was quick and easy because the fire was contained to the ventilation system on the first floor in the restaurant,” said Public Safety spokesperson Cara Cruz.
