An eaglet hatched at a bald eagle nest at the U.S. Steel plant in West Mifflin on Sunday morning.

An egg in the bald eagles’ nest at U.S. Steel’s Irvin plant in West Mifflin has hatched.

Bald eagles Irvin and Claire, who nest near U.S. Steel’s Mon Valley Works — Irvin Plant, welcomed the first eaglet of the season Sunday morning, according to Andrew Fulton, spokesman for U.S. Steel.

The eaglet is the seventh successful hatch at the nest, Fulton said. The nest is located along the Monongahela River.

A first view of the eaglet’s face was displayed on live video at 11:55 a.m.

A second egg remains in the nest, and is expected to hatch soon, Fulton said.
