Duquesne Light outages affect more than 1,000 in eastern Allegheny County
About 1,400 Duquesne Light customers remained without power Wednesday morning as a result of 11 scattered outages in eastern Allegheny County.
Ashley Macik, a spokesperson for the utility, attributed the outages to high temperatures that caused “equipment issues” overnight.
“Our crews are safely working as quickly as possible to restore their service,” Macik said. “Power should be fully restored by noon today, but many will have service back before then.”
According to the utility’s web page, there were about 450 customers without power in Edgewood and about 320 in the same situation in Swissvale as of 7 a.m.
Several hundred customers had been without power in Monroeville, but that outage no longer was displayed on the page at 7 a.m.
Monroeville firefighters reported responding to James Street at about 11:15 p.m. Tuesday when a high tension power line failed. According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, about 700 customers initially were affected as a Duquesne Light crew headed to the scene.
