Crafton man gets 5 to 10 years for having sex with 11-year-old girl
A Crafton man is going to prison for having sex with an 11-year-old girl.
Nabin Darjee, 21, pleaded guilty Thursday morning to involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and corruption of minors, court records show.
Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Bruce R. Beemer sentenced Darjee to five to 10 years in prison, followed by three years of probation, court records show.
The victim told police that Darjee raped her Jan. 13 at a Whitehall park playground, according to a criminal complaint filed in the case. Darjee admitted to investigators that he tried to have sex with the girl, but he maintained it was consensual and she initiated it, the complaint said.
Charges of rape of a child, sexual assault, statutory sexual assault, indecent assault of a child, indecent assault without consent and indecent assault on a person less than 13 years of age were withdrawn against Darjee, court records show.
Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr.’s office declined to comment on whether they offered or struck a plea deal with Darjee.
Darjee’s attorney, public defender Leslie Perlow, was unavailable for comment.
The complaint said Darjee picked up the 11-year-old girl and a second female at the victim’s house around 7 p.m. Jan. 13 and drove around the area with two other men in the car. The victim told investigators that Darjee raped her at the playground and also sexually assaulted her in his car.
The victim had met Darjee once previously. Darjee told police he knew the victim and the other female from the social media app Snapchat.
The Tribune-Review does not identify victims of sexual assault.
