Taxpayers in the Chartiers Valley School District can sound off on what they’d like to see in the district’s next superintendent at two meetings later this month.
Meetings are scheduled Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the district office training room, 2030 Swallow Hill Road; and April 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Middle School Library, 50 Thoms Run Road.
The meetings are being held for community members to share what they think are the strengths and weaknesses of the school district, review issues to be addressed in future years and determine the skills needed in the next superintendent, the district said in a statement.
The meetings are going to be informal, officials said.
Chartiers Valley has been without a permanent superintendent since its former superintendent, Johannah Vanatta, resigned in February. Vanatta had been Chartiers Valley’s superintendent since 2018. She became superintendent of the Blackhawk School District in March.
The school board appointed assistant superintendent Julie Franczyk as interim superintendent in March, and finance and operations director Patricia Connolly was tabbed to concentrate on all other aspects of the district.
The board also hired Tom Templeton, of Templeton Advantage, to lead the superintendent search.
