South West Communities Chamber of Commerce virtual events

In partnership with Cosmitto, the chamber is hosting a webinar that will change the way folks plan their marketing strategy for the new year. Zoom in on this important marketing session with member Cosmitto and get tips on how to make the most of 2021. Cosmitto will review how to build out a flexible marketing strategy in this 45-minute session 10 a.m. Jan. 26. Cost is $10 for members, $25 for nonmembers.

On March 2, the South West Communities Chamber of Commerce will host its first annual virtual trade show. The 2021 Virtual Summit will showcase companies across online channels to help participants grow their business in the new year. This full-day online event will feature webinars, Zoom meetings, networking and breakout rooms. Members and non-members are welcome, and businesses don’t have to be in the area to participate.

South Fayette’s Zoning Hearing Board meeting for Jan. 27 has been canceled.

Dean’s List

Natalie Wasielewski of Carnegie was recently named to the President’s List at The State University of New York at Potsdam. Wasielewski, whose major is exercise science, was among 1,046 SUNY Potsdam students who were honored for academic excellence in the Fall 2020 semester. To achieve the honor of being on the President’s List, each student must have satisfactorily completed 12 numerically-graded semester hours, with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Winter Sock Drive

Girl Scout Junior Troop 46700 and Cub Scout Pack 860 Riger Den are teaming up for a Sock Drive for the Salvation Army’s Chartier’s Valley Service Unit. Through Feb. 5, new socks of any size (or monetary donations) can be dropped off to Scout members or in the large black and yellow bin on the front porch at 1003 Old Noblestown Road in Oakdale.

Valentine’s Day activity box

South Fayette is offering a Valentine’s Day Activity Box that includes 8 to 10 Valentine’s Day and winter craft and outdoor activity items, snacks and activity sheets. It is geared toward children ages 5 to 12. Cost is $25, with $5 being donated to the nonprofit South Fayette Community Fund. Order by Feb. 1. Boxes will be shipped Feb. 3. Women’s Business Network

Women’s Business Network is part networking group, part mastermind group and part educational resource.

Coffee with the Chief goes virtual

South Fayette Township Police Chief John Phoennik invites the public to a virtual lunchtime session of Coffee with the Chief from noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 12. Via the online Zoom platform, attendees can meet Chief Phoennik, share comments and ask questions. Use your telephone, computer or smartphone to join the meeting.
