The student who authorities believe was behind a threat against Chartiers Valley schools is in custody, police and school district officials said.

The threat closed schools in the district Monday, along with classes at the Parkway West Career and Technology Center.

The district will be operating on a normal schedule Tuesday with an increased police presence, officials said.

The threat prompted a move to a remote schedule and canceled after school events. But it was resolved with help from police, said Interim Superintendent Joseph Dimperio. A student in crisis is suspected of making the threat, he said.

The student wasn’t identified.

Collier and Bridgeville police both said they’re pursuing charges against the student, who is in supervised custody.
