The Bridgeville Public Library is planning some facility improvements.

The library at 505 McMillen St. was awarded $200,000 from the state’s Department of Community and Economic Development for solar panels, bathroom renovations and HVAC work.

Director Erin Weaver said the library is excited to be a recipient of the funding.

“The library plans to invest in solar paneling, which will allow us to reduce our carbon footprint and lower our long-term bills,” she said. “We are proud to embrace a greener and more sustainable future.”

The library also plans to use its funding to improve its bathroom facilities and make them more accessible to families that visit the library, Weaver said.

It also plans to have its HVAC inspected and have “necessary improvements” made to ensure the system is running at maximum efficiency, she said.

The funding award was announced by state Rep. Anita Kulik, D-Carnegie.

Also being awarded state money is the Carnegie Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 331, which is getting $71,000 to replace a rooftop HVAC unit.

“These grants are a big win for our community,” Kulik said. “The VFW Post in Carnegie provides important services for our veterans, and the Bridgeville Public Library is a cornerstone of our community’s educational and cultural resources. I’m thrilled to see these funds going toward projects that will benefit our veterans, library patrons and the broader communities.”
