The hiring of a new officer has Bridgeville’s police force at full complement.
Council hired patrolman Tyler Evans in June, and he was sworn-in by Mayor Betty Copeland at the end of June.
His starting salary is $63,059.
Evans previously worked for the Mt. Pleasant, Smith Township, and Monongahela City police departments, said Bridgeville police Chief Chad King.
Evans’ hiring has Bridgeville Police fully staffed with nine full-time officers, including King, two sergeants, and six patrolmen. It eliminates the need for part-time officers.
“We currently do not have part-timers,” King said. “We have employed (part-time officers) in the past, however, that practice has become extremely difficult, as there are so many full-time jobs available and several departments hiring.”
