A PRT bus on April 30, 2020.

The driver and a passenger in a car were taken to UPMC Presbyterian hospital Saturday morning after crashing into a Pittsburgh Regional Transit bus in East Liberty.

The crash occurred in the 6600 block of Hamilton Avenue.

The passenger of the car was listed in critical condition, according to PRT spokesman Adam Brandolph. Brandolph said the driver had non-life threatening injuries. Pittsburgh firefighters freed at least one of the people in the car.

According to Brandolph, initial reports indicated the driver crossed the double yellow line before their vehicle struck the bus.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
