A house in Pittsburgh’s California-Kirkbride neighborhood was condemned after a vehicle crashed into it on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020.

A 24-year-old man was in stable condition after crashing his car into a house in Pittsburgh’s California-Kirkbride neighborhood Wednesday, according to police.

The crash happened near Brighton Road and Brighton Place shortly before 5 p.m.

Police said the driver crashed into a home where Brighton Place branches off Brighton Road, causing major damage to the brick, three-story house.

The driver, who police did not identify, was thrown from his vehicle and trapped under debris. First responders dug him out and medics stabilized him before he was taken to an unidentified hospital.

Two people were in the house but not hurt, police said. The house was condemned due to the damage; the American Red Cross was helping the family with shelter.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
