Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified a body that was recovered from the Allegheny River on Wednesday morning.

Officials said it was David Lesser, 54, of Shaler.

Allegheny County homicide detectives were notified shortly before 8:30 a.m. of a body in the river near Pine Creek.

Lt. Venerando Costa said Wednesday evening that there were “no obvious signs of trauma,” and that investigators are awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause and manner of death. He said there were no obvious signs of foul play. He wasn’t sure if Lesser had been reported missing.

Anyone with information about the incident should call the county police tip line at 833-ALL-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.
