Bitter cold weather gives way to sunshine; temps to hit 50s by Thanksgiving
Here’s something to be thankful for: The colder-than-normal weather will come to an end Monday in the Pittsburgh region with sunny skies warming temperatures into the low 40s.
National Weather Service meteorologist Bill Modzelewski said there will still be some cold overnight lows, but the days will begin to heat up.
“We’ll have mainly clear skies and dry days through Thanksgiving,” Modzelewski said.
By Thursday, the temperature is expected to reach the low 50s.
The weather is looking just fine for your (hopefully) short work week running up to Thanksgiving! Expect plenty of sun Monday through Wednesday, along with a slow warming trend. Turkey Day itself still looks mainly dry, with rain potentially arriving at night. pic.twitter.com/rImGDZLSyW

It will be a stark change from the frigid temps that only climbed into the 20s in recent days.
In Wheeling, W.Va., Sunday’s high of 29 degrees broke a record for the lowest high by 1 degree.

“We didn’t break any records here, but it was below normal,” Modzelewski said.
Temperatures are expected to inch up into the mid-40s on Tuesday and the upper 40s Wednesday.
