Allegheny County reports 158 new covid-19 cases, 2nd highest this month
Allegheny County on Friday reported the second highest daily number of coronavirus cases in October.
The 158 new cases were the most reported in a single day since 204 cases were reported Oct. 4. Of these, 109 are confirmed cases from 1,549 PCR tests. The other 49 are probable cases, according to the Allegheny County Health Department.
The 7-day average of 124 cases is the highest in the county since August, as is the current 7-day total of 866 cases. With 1,549 new tests, Allegheny’s daily positivity rate is 10.2%
The total known cases in the county has reached 14,687. The county reports 13,707 of these as confirmed and 978 as probable.
The county also reported four new coronavirus deaths. They occurred from Oct. 15-Oct. 22.
To date, the county has reported 421 covid-related deaths, while the Pennsylvania Department of Health puts Allegheny’s death total at 403.
The new cases fall into these age groups:
0-4: 2
5-12: 3
13-18: 12
19-24: 38
25-49: 50
50-64: 38
65 and up: 15
There have been 202,678 patients testing negative in the county since March.
Allegheny County currently has 156 patients hospitalized for covid-19, with 35 of them on ventilators. There are a total of 807 ventilators in the county with 201 being used for all medical conditions.
There have been 1,379 coronavirus-related hospitalizations in the county to date. The county has reported 10,265 known recoveries from covid-19.
