Allegheny County reports 138 coronavirus cases, 2 deaths

Allegheny County on Saturday recorded 138 new coronavirus cases and two new deaths.

The additional deaths bring the county total to 405.

The county now has accumulated 13,959 cases of covid-19, according to data from the Allegheny County Health Department.

Of the new cases, 113 are confirmed, while 25 are listed as probable.

The recent batch of samples comprising 2,024 tests were collected from Oct. 11 to Oct. 16. They yielded a positivity rate of about 5.5%.

The county also reported 13 new hospitalizations. Officials say 1,338 people have been hospitalized since the virus was first reported in Allegheny County on March 14.

Saturday’s cases range in age from 4 months to 92 years, with a median of 40 years old.

The deaths were of two people in their 90s, one of which was associated with a long-term care facility. Officials reported that they occurred between Sept. 15 and Oct. 4.

Just past the midway point of October, the county has seen 1,407 new cases of the virus this month.

Allegheny County has posted triple-digit case numbers four times this month; Oct. 1 (106), Oct. 8 (127), Thursday (139) and Friday (127).
