Two people were killed in a one-vehicle crash Friday evening in Forward Township.

The driver, Christopher Suss, 37, of Elizabeth, was found dead at the scene by first responders, according to Allegheny County Police. The cause of his death was blunt force injuries to the head, trunk and extremities, the county medical examiner’s office determined.

Police said his passenger, a 28-year-old woman who was not identified, was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, where she died.

According to a county 911 dispatch supervisor, a medical helicopter initially was summoned to the scene on Bunola River Road but was canceled.

County homicide detectives believe speed was a factor in the wreck, which was reported just before 7:40 p.m.. They determined the vehicle was headed south when it crossed the center line, near Oliver Drive. It went up a hillside and rolled over multiple times.

Forward Township police and Elizabeth Borough firefighters also responded.

Further details about the victims weren’t immediately available.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the county police tip line at 833-255-8477. Callers can remain anonymous.
