One person died in a housefire in Ben Avon late Friday night.

The identity of the victim has not been released yet. Allegheny County homicide detectives are assisting the county’s Fire Marshal’s Office in the investigation.

Emsworth VFC, which serves the small borough on the Ohio River, was dispatched to the scene of the blaze on the 6800 block of Perrysville Avenue just before midnight, according to a social media post from the department.

The fire, which engulfed much of the home, persisted for hours, and crews remained on scene until about 6 a.m. Saturday, the post said.

Several other departments also responded to the blaze, including Avalon VFC, Ross-based Seville VFC, Kilbuck Township Fire Department and Leetsdale Fire Department.
