Allegheny County on Monday reported a two-day total of 962 new coronavirus cases with no new deaths. The county has seen an average of 508 new cases over the past seven days, adding 3,557 new cases in that time.

The county added 576 cases Sunday and 386 on Monday, bringing the county’s total to 24,083.

The Allegheny County Health Department reported that 792 of the new cases were confirmed through 4,146 PCR tests conducted from Nov. 10-22 — a 18.49% positive new-PCR-test rate.

Out of the new cases, the department said 107 were probable. The state Department of Health defines a probable case as one in which a patient has “a positive serology (antibody) test and either covid-19 symptoms or a high-risk exposure” to someone who has been confirmed to have coronavirus.

New cases range in age from one month to 100 years with a median age of 42. The age groups of the newly reported cases — 440 male and 522 female — are:

According to the state’s covid-19 tracking website, of the 438 Allegheny County residents in the hospital with the virus, 143 of them are in intensive care units and 60 of them are on ventilators. State officials report there are 827 operational ventilators in the county, with 221 (26.7%) currently in use for all illnesses.

To date, the county reports that 1,858 residents have been hospitalized for the virus, with 103 new hospitalizations since Saturday.
