Adam Sandler to perform stand-up show in Pittsburgh in February
Adam Sandler is going back to his comedic roots and bringing a rare standup tour to PPG Paints Arena on Feb. 8. The performance is part of an extension of his fall 2022 “Adam Sandler Live” tour that began last October.
“What the heck! Let’s do a few more!” said Sandler, 56, on Instagram.
The limited extension includes 11 dates in mostly midwestern and southern cities, all in February.
Though he is better known for his television work as a member of the cast of “Saturday Night Live” for five seasons and star of movies such as “Billy Madison,” “Happy Gilmore,” “50 First Dates,” “The Wedding Singer” and “Uncut Gems,” among others, Sandler got his start in show business as a stand-up comedian. According to Variety, he ended up on “Saturday Night Live” as a result of a stand-up appearance at a Los Angeles comedy club.
In a review of one of Sandler’s performances on his fall tour, Variety’s A.D. Amorosi said, “Throughout the nearly two-hour-long set, Sandler tendered a balancing act between long, hypnotically repetitive, juvenile stories … then smartly short, absurdist songs with head-scratching, laugh-out-loud, abrupt-ending finales that somehow, weirdly related to real-life.”
Tickets are available at livenation.com. It is a 16-and-over show.
