9 vehicles involved in chain reaction crash on Route 28 at 31st Street Bridge
Nine vehicles were involved in a chain reaction crash on Route 28 at the 31st Street Bridge Wednesday, according to Pittsburgh police.
Police, firefighters and medics responded to the crash around 5:40 p.m.
Police said first responders found that there had been three collisions involving a total of nine vehicles.
No one was seriously hurt, police said. One person was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
Firefighters cleaned up up to 30 gallons of spilled diesel fuel.
A police vehicle responding to the scene from the Strip District was hit by a civilian vehicle, police said. Police said the unit was crossing the bridge with its lights and sirens on.
No one was hurt in that crash, but the police vehicle had to be towed.
Police were continuing to investigate.
