Turner’s 50th anniversary ‘ParTea’

The Turner’s 50th Anniversary ParTea is planned for 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Rivers of Steel Carrie Blast Furnaces, 801 Carrie Furnace Blvd., Swissvale.

Billed as “the second most consequential tea party in history,” Turner Dairy Farms will celebrate the iconic beverage’s golden anniversary with a tanker truck of Turner’s Premium Iced Tea.

Dragon boat date night

Steel City Dragons paddling group has moved its free “Date Night with a Dragon (Boat),” originally scheduled for 7-9 p.m. Aug. 6, to the same time on Aug. 13 at Fox Chapel Yacht Club, 1366 Old Freeport Road.

Participants will learn the fundamentals of dragon boating while paddling to romantic music on the Allegheny River. The team’s boats are 46 feet long with a carved dragon head and tail resembling traditional Chinese boats dating back more than 2,000 years. The boat is propelled by a crew of 20 paddlers who follow a drum cadence.

Following the session, chocolates and champagne (or non-alcoholic drinks) will be served in the team’s training room.

Donations will be accepted to support the group’s outreach and breast cancer survivor programs. Participants must be 18 or older; online registration is required at steelcitydragons.org.
