3 shot, wounded in Pittsburgh's Spring Hill neighborhood
Three people were wounded in a North Side shooting late Thursday.
Pittsburgh police said a total of 34 rounds were fired on the 100 block of Rhine Place in Spring Hill around 11:55 p.m. Thursday.
A woman suffered a gunshot wound to the arm, a second woman was struck in the leg, and a man was shot in the neck, police said. The victims were not identified.
Medics transported the man with the neck wound to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. The women also were transported, and reported in stable condition.
No arrests were made.
Pittsburgh police are investigating.
The shootings occurred on the same day that city officials expressed concerns over Pittsburgh rising homicide rate.
Pittsburgh police said Thursday its officers have investigated 59 homicides to date in 2022 — the highest rate in at least seven years and a 25% spike year over year.
This week alone, a teenager was shot in the head and died in Beechview, a man was found dead in Garfield in what police called a homicide, and 18-year-old Omar McCord Jr. was pronounced dead after a shooting near an alley in Highland Park. There have been no arrests in any of the three cases.
The department is looking for a new police chief.
