An 18- and 17-year old have been charged in connection to vehicle break-ins in Ross Township and Bellevue, and a police chase early Saturday morning, according to Allegheny County Police.
Charges against Zymon Campbell, 18, of Pittsburgh include simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and carrying a firearm without a license. Charges against a 17-year-old boy will be handled through juvenile court, county police said.
Just after 12:30 a.m., Ross police received reports of men illegally entering vehicles early Saturday morning, county police said.
Detectives talked to a woman who said that she got back to her Clarion Avenue home in Ross at 12:30 a.m., county police said. When she was inside, she heard voices outside and saw three people going through her car.
Campbell pointed a gun at the woman and told her to go back inside her house, county police said.
At 3 a.m., a Bellevue police officer was dispatched to Laurel Avenue for reports of two people who attempted to enter parked vehicles, county police said.
When an officer saw them, the two ran, county police said. During the chase, a gun was discharged by the 17-year-old as he attempted to scale a fence, county police said. He was later taken into custody.
Campbell was detained shortly after and had a loaded magazine with .45-caliber ammunition, county police said. Two guns were recovered by detectives during the investigation.
