A 13-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in connection with the Jan. 3 robbery and abduction of a pizza delivery driver in Pittsburgh’s Elliott neighborhood.

Pittsburgh police did not identify the teen. Police spokeswoman Amanda Mueller said the boy has not been charged as an adult because of his age.

“An affidavit has been filed, but until or unless he is charged as an adult, a name will not be released,” Mueller said.

Police charged the teen Monday with offenses including aggravated assault, kidnapping, robbery, criminal conspiracy and robbery of a motor vehicle. He was arrested earlier that day in Elliott, according to a public docket of police arrests.

“There is one arrest of a juvenile, but more arrests are expected,” Cara Cruz, another police spokeswoman, told the Tribune-Review.

Police from the city’s Zone 6 responded to reports of a robbery and abduction around 10 p.m. Jan. 3 in the 900 block of Phoenix Street.

A pizza delivery driver told police he had stopped his vehicle at 9:30 p.m. to find a delivery address when he was approached by three males — all dressed in black, each with a black handgun.

The driver said they demanded and stole money from him, as well as his car keys, wallet, cellphone and shoes.

The suspects kicked the back of the driver’s knees so he would fall to the ground, then began beating him with their handguns and fists before putting him in the trunk of his car, the victim said.

The vehicle was driven an unknown distance before the suspects got out and left him in the trunk, the victim said. The driver then got into the car through the backseats and called police from the 1300 block of Hassler Street.

The driver suffered a swollen jaw and bruises, but refused medical treatment, police said.
