Man fatally shot during gunfight in Lawrenceville

The man who was shot dead in an alleged gunfight outside a Lawrenceville gas station early Tuesday evening in Pittsburgh has been identified.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiners Office identified the victim as Michael Ehlinger, 56, of Pittsburgh’s Stanton Heights neighborhood.

TribLive news partner WTAE reported that two men were allegedly shooting at one another just before 4 p.m. near the Sunoco gas station on the 5000 block of Butler Street.

Ehlinger was pronounced dead at the scene, according to medical examiner. WTAE reported that he’d been shot at multiple times, and the other man called 911 after the shooting.

He was taken into custody and is being interviewed at police headquarters, according to Pittsburgh public safety officials.
