Shirley McMarlin

Fans of “The Shawshank Redemption” are invited to a 25th anniversary celebration from Aug. 16-18 in Mansfield, Ohio, where the classic prison break movie was filmed around the old Ohio State Reformatory.

Cast members including Bob Gunton (Warden Norton) will attend, along with director/screenwriter/producer Frank Darabont and Turner Classic Movies host Ben Mankiewicz.

Many of the 16 filming sites along the city’s Shawshank Trail will offer events, such as tours and panel discussions. The historic Renaissance Theatre, site of the movie’s 1994 premiere, will host a screening.

Local eatery Doc’s Deli will offer a special “Caged Bird” smoked turkey and spinach sandwich to commemorate the festivities.
