The Allegheny National Forest is the nation’s No. 2 camping spot for 2019, according to rankings from the online camping marketplace Hipcamp.

Western Pennsylvanians have one of the nation’s best spots for camping right in their own back yards, so to speak.

According to Hipcamp, an online marketplace where people can find and book camping experiences, the Allegheny National Forest ranks second for 2019 in the top 10 most popular camping areas, as compared to last year.

The state’s only national forest, about 100 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, covers 513,175 acres and includes 15 campgrounds with more than 1,000 sites for RV, cabin and tent camping.

The nation’s top camping spot, Hipcamp says, is Cape Cod, Mass.
