Out & About: Greensburg Art Center gala rocks a Tahitian vibe
Outside the Greensburg Art Center, it was gray and damp, but inside, there was a warm South Seas vibe.
Tiki torches lit the path, leading guests to Art on the Vine: Tahiti, the center’s signature fundraiser, held this year on April 26.
The theme was inspired by French post-Impressionist painter Paul Gauguin, who traveled far and wide in search of exotic vistas to paint, finally landing in Tahiti in 1891, where his studies of the local life and people resulted in his most critically acclaimed work.
The art center was awash in color, from the works on its walls, to the party decor, to the guests themselves, arrayed in bright tropical hues.
Each of six tables laden with foods and desserts was paired with a wine from Greendance Winery. Each guest received a wine glass hand-painted in the style of Gauguin.
The Groove Elements provided music.
Event chairwoman was Pat Majcher, with committee members including Mary Ann Calabrase, Rosemary Sovyak, Polly O’Hara, Jim and Suzanne Andrews, Wendy Milne, Shirleah Kelly and David and Barb McCormick.
Seen: Bill and Susan Kiren, Emily Bisel, Bob Majcher, Fred Sovyak, Kay Rowe, Sarah Hunter and James Kuhns, Bill and Bonnie Hoffman, Jerry Scorpion, Bob and Arlene Kendra, Jess and Joan Stairs, Keith Kelly, Gloria Gonzalez, Ron and Judith Korczynski, Ray and Sande Zelenak, Al and Carol Kave and George and Linda Austin.
