Westmoreland Historical Society, headquartered at Historic Hanna’s Town in Hempfield, is offering a free online genealogy workshop on April 25.

As you pass the days in social isolation with your family, are you wondering: Who are these people and where did they come from?

The Westmoreland Historical Society can help you find some answers with a free online ”Introduction to Genealogy” workshop, set for 1-3 p.m. April 25.

“This beginner’s workshop will help you start tracking down those long-lost ancestors and piecing together your family story,” the society says. “Learn about fundamental research methods, identifying and locating relevant records, keeping your research organized and utilizing resources in the Westmoreland Historical Society library.

”While our facilities are currently closed due to the pandemic, we are now offering this program virtually through Zoom, a free videoconferencing platform.”

Preregistration is required. To reserve the desired number of spots and receive additional details and the videoconference link, visit westmorelandhistory.org.

The Westmoreland Historical Society’s Calvin E. Pollins Memorial Library is the premier resource for studying the history of Westmoreland County. The non-circulating library includes more than 5,000 historical reference books, genealogical records and original documents of local interest.

Additional information on society resources and programs is available on the website, by emailing history@westmorelandhistory.org, on Facebook, on Twitter @WCHistory and on Instagram @WestmorelandHistory.
