Faith and begorrah, it’s time to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

Folklore says the patron saint of Ireland introduced Christianity to the Emerald Isle, using a three-leafed clover to illustrate the Holy Trinity. As a bonus, he banished snakes from the island.

Traditionally, the Irish celebrated St. Patrick’s feast day with religious observances and a special meal.

Leave it to their American cousins to turn it into a shamrockin’ good time, complete with parties, parades, decorations, green garb and green food and drink.

There’s an Irish saying that certainly sounds American: “‘Tis better to spend money like there’s no tomorrow than to spend tonight like there’s no money.”

So if there’s a little green burning a hole in your pocket, spend it on something from this select list of St. Patrick’s Day deals:

• Applebee’s Grill + Bar — The Tipsy Leprechaun and Pot O’ Gold Colada are $5 each while supplies last at participating locations.

• Arby’s — The mint chocolate shake is available for a limited time.

• Cold Stone Creamery — Lucky Charms Ice Cream is available through March 31. The cold confection includes Lucky Charms marshmallows, whipped topping and gold glitter. Have it in a green waffle cone or bowl for a limited time.
