Santa's on his way: Here's how to track him

Rohan Pavasko, 2, of Greensburg, held by grandfather Dave Maier of Harrison City, peeks in at Santa Claus at Overly’s Country Christmas at the Westmoreland Fairgrounds on Wednesday.

All eyes are on the guy dressed in red and white.

It’s time for Santa Claus to shine, and there are a few ways to track his gift-giving progress — with the help of nine flying reindeer, Rudolph included of course — before he makes it to rooftops across Southwestern Pennsylvania.

As anticipation grew locally on Christmas Eve morning, Santa was already hard at work on the opposite side of the world for Christmas Day, according to NORAD’s Santa Tracker.

Millions of gifts had already been placed under Christmas trees.

Volunteers are updating callers on the worldwide progress at 1-800-Hi-NORAD.

Things are festive and busy at the #NORADTracksSanta Operations Center! We expect to receive tens of thousands of calls throughout the day. Call 1-877-Hi-NORAD to talk to one of our jolly volunteers! pic.twitter.com/aZzzHwx0Gg

But just like Santa double checks his list for the naughty and nice, you might want another source to confirm his whereabouts. Google is tracking him with an interactive map that showed his zig-zag progress on the tiniest islands in the Pacific Ocean.

Both trackers offer ways to learn more about the places where presents were dropped off. As he gets closer to the Pittsburgh area, Santa will surely need a respite from his high-flying work with some milk and cookies.
