Pittsburgh Riverhounds hosting Special Kick Clinic

Mary Pickels

Pittsburgh Riverhounds will host the Watson Institute’s seventh annual Special Kick Clinic at Highmark Stadium, inviting children with special needs and their siblings to take to the field.

The event will held from noon-3 p.m. Sunday.

“We are grateful to the Riverhounds organization, PJ Dick, and our other sponsors for partnering with us to continue offering this unique event to children with special needs and their families,” says Barry Bohn, Watson Institute president and CEO.

“The support of our generous sponsors makes it possible for us to offer this fun event free of charge to the community,” he adds.

The Special Kick Clinic partners participants and their families with a volunteer who will accompany them throughout the day’s activities.

The Riverhounds set up soccer stations with drills carefully adapted to accommodate the needs of each participant. Players work one-on-one with the participants as they complete the drills.

Riverhounds mascot Amo joins in, participating in the soccer stations alongside the kids.

To register as a participant or to volunteer for the Special Kick Clinic, call Lisa Falk at 412-749-2851 or visit thewatsoninstitute.org.
