No one ever sang that they wished they were an Oscar Mayer frank.

Four months after announcing its iconic hot dog-shaped Wienermobile had changed its name to Frankmobile, Oscar Mayer has reverted to the long-loved original.

It announced the change on Instagram, TikTok and other sites Wednesday, saying “It’s been a franktastic summer! But like you, we missed this BUNderful icon.

“Help us welcome back the Wienermobile.”

The Facebook post drew hundreds of comments, with some users declaring “All is right in the Wiener World” and “Welcome back, old pal.”

The Kraft Heinz Co. in May changed the name in conjunction with a new recipe for the brand’s 100% beef franks — despite being dubbed the Wienermobile for nearly 90 years since it hit the road in 1936.

Headquartered in Pittsburgh and Chicago, the company first debuted the 13-foot-long mobile vehicle as an advertising stunt, and it grew wildly in popularity over the years.

Five 22-foot-long Wienermobiles hit the streets in 1952, the first to have sound systems and sunroofs. They were retired in 1977, but after a huge response for the Wienermobile’s 50th anniversary in 1986, six new 23-foot-long Wienermobiles were introduced two years later.

The vehicles continued to change and get longer over the decades since, stopping at parking lots and posing for photos.

The six-vehicle fleet will again be driven by Hotdoggers, bidding adieu to the short-lived Frankfurter title.

According to the company, perhaps the most famous Hotdogger is former U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan, who drove the Wienermobile one summer while in college.

The Wienermobile has no upcoming stops in Pittsburgh according to the online schedule, but it tours year-round so fans are encouraged to check for updates.
