The McRib is back at McDonald’s The McRib will return Oct. 7 to more than 10,000 McDonald’s restaurants across the country.

If you’re a fan of the McDonald’s McRib sandwich, mark Oct. 7 on your calendar.

McDonald’s announced on Thursday that the barbecue-style, boneless pork sandwich will begin returning to menus that day at more than 10,000 locations across the country.

Finding a McRib near you can be something of a treasure hunt. In recent years, the iconic sandwich has had a limited run each fall and doesn’t always return to the same locations.

To see where you can go for your McRib fix, enter your ZIP code on the company’s McRib locator at mcdfinder.com.

At this point, McRib locations closest to Western Pennsylvania are showing around Morgantown, Weirton and Wheeling, W.Va., and Steubenville and East Liverpool, Ohio.

McDonald’s is celebrating the limited-time return of the McRib by launching Instagram McRib GIFs, searchable on the app using the hashtag #McRibSZN.

“We know the McRib has some of the most loyal fans,” said chef Chad Schafer, senior director of culinary innovation and commercialization at McDonald’s USA, in the company’s announcement. “This year we’re excited to give every McRib fan new ways to show their love for the sandwich with our saucy McRib GIFS.”

The McRib launched in 1981. Beloved by many and despised by others, the McRib has been revived after three offerings listed as farewell tours — in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

I will buy a flamethrower for Ukraine if they can make the McRib a permanent menu item. I will also throw in 5 grenades for a year-round Shamrock Shake and whatnot.
