From pancakes to prime rib, Mother's Day takeout options abound
The good news is that, even though you can’t take Mom out to eat on Sunday, you still can treat her to a special Mother’s Day meal.
The better news is that you don’t have to cook it yourself.
Restaurants around the area are offering a variety of takeout brunch and dinner menus, along with special sweet treats. Here are some of the options:
• Cioppino Restaurant, Pittsburgh Strip District: Ready-to-heat meal kits include filet mignon, meatloaf, smoked salmon or whole roasted chicken. Menu can be viewed at toasttab.com. To order, call 412-281-6593 by 3 p.m. Friday.
• DeNunzio’s Italian Restaurants, Jeannette, Latrobe and Monroeville: Entrees for pickup on Sunday include salmon Trattoria, chicken Marsala, seafood Pescatore, prime rib of beef and sliced Virginia ham, available in individual servings or family meal packages. Other dishes, desserts and DeNunzio’s private-label wines also are available. Prices vary. Menu can be viewed on the restaurant’s Facebook page. • DiAnoia’s Eatery, Pittsburgh Strip District: Orders are being taken for a $60 pasta box, which includes DiAnoia’s fresh-made pasta, housemade marinara and vegetarian sauces, fresh-baked loaf of bread, assorted Italian cookies and a bottle of wine. To order, visit dianoiaseatery.com.
• Eat’n Park, various locations: Meal deals include Whale of a Cod sandwiches, chicken tenders and fried chicken, each with side dishes. Chicken tenders also can be ordered in quantities of 10, 20, 30 or 40. Eat’n Park’s signature strawberry pie also is available, whole pie or by the slice. • Hampton Event Center, Gibsonia: Dinner packages for four feature entree of breasts of chicken piccata or beef medallions with herb beef Marsala sauce, side dishes and dessert of Belgian chocolate chip cannolis. • The Kitchen on Main, Ligonier: Dinner menu for Sunday pickup is cherrywood smoked prime rib, side dishes and New York-style cheesecake. Cost: $35 for one, $65 for two, $120 for four, $155 for six. To order by Friday, call 72-238-4199.
• The Lamplighter, Delmont: Family style feasts for four include either turkey and stuffing or glazed ham entrees; orders are due by Saturday. • Lucy’s Riverside Cafe, Freeport: Orders are being taken for lobster rolls to pick up on Sunday. Message the cafe on Facebook.

• Prantl’s Bakery, Greensburg and Shadyside: Dessert options include the famous burnt almond torte, called the “Best Cake in America” by Huffington Post, along with burnt almond chocolate torte and carrot cake. Order at prantlsbakery.com.

• Rizzo’s Malabar Inn, Crabtree: Drive-through Mother’s Day entrees include baked flounder stuffed with crab meat or baked lasagna with meat sauce; side dishes and chef’s choice dessert are included. No pre-orders or substitutions are available. Cost is $13 each, cash only. Whole Italian almond cream cake or tiramisu is $30.
