“In Westmoreland County alone, United Way’s Open Your Heart to a Senior coordinates more than 200 volunteers helping our region’s older adults with transportation to and from doctor’s appointments, home safety checks and companionship,” says Melaney Hegyes, Open Your Heart to a Senior site director. “The Champions of Dance event is a fun, philanthropic way to shine a light on the needs of seniors in our community and support this important work.”
Open Your Heart to a Senior provided support to more than 900 seniors across the southwestern Pennsylvania last year. United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania serves Allegheny, Butler, Westmoreland, Fayette and southern Armstrong counties.
