A British cutlery company has gotten the point.

Well, to be more accurate, it’s gotten rid of the point.

British silversmith company Viners has responded to a new law passed in May 2019 by the Parliament of the United Kingdom. The Offensive Weapons Act 2019 was designed to address violent attacks in the country. The act reclassified kitchen knives as an offensive weapon. And that’s where Viners stepped in.

The company came up with a new style of knife that literally cuts off the sharp tip.

“We have designed a highly functional knife which is shaped to reduce and prevent injuries, accidents and fatalities, whilst still offering the same performance expected of a standard kitchen knife,” the company’s site says.

The knives’ stainless steel blades have a black non-stick coating that helps reduce cutting friction and have curved soft touch handles.

On its website, the company says it consulted with about 1,700 U.K. consumers on the best shape of the new knife.

The knives, which will be available on the site in February, come in six styles and range in price from $4.50 to $6.50, or about $19 for a four-piece set (including a chef’s knife, Santoku knife, utility knife and paring knife).

The site makes it clear you must be 18 years or older to purchase the knives.
