Bingo
• Bingo is played from 1-3 p.m. on the first and third Thursdays of the month at the Lincoln Heights Civic Association, 42 Millersdale Road, Hempfield. Session includes five quickies ($1 for full card) and 20 regular games ($.25 for three-card board). Payout is 50/50. Coffee is free.
Church news
• A car and bike show is planned for 1-5 p.m. July 18 at St. Sylvester Church, 3028 Route 819, Slickville. Registration opens at 11 a.m.; the $10 fee includes ticket for a hot dog. The first 100 entries receive a dash plaque.
Trophies will be awarded at 4 p.m. in nine classes including rat rod, imports and best of show. Event will include a blessing of the vehicles and music by DJ Jeff Allen. Food and beverages will be available.
Rain date is July 25.

• Latrobe Chapter 4907 AARP has canceled all remaining 2020 chapter meetings and activities, in compliance with directives from the national AARP organization.
Educational programs
• Adams Memorial Library in Latrobe is offering these programs:
Palmer Summer Reading Program, through Aug. 8. Program includes online crafts and guest performances. Participants can log reading hours for the chance to win prizes. Those who would like to participate but don’t have access to the internet can call the library for more information.
“Be a Chemist,” July 13-16, for children entering second through fifth grades. Via Zoom, participants will practice scientific techniques and explore principles of chemistry through hands-on experiments and live virtual sessions with fellow student scientists, a Science on the Road educator and question-and-answer session with a local STEM professional.
Space is limited; supply kits will be available for curbside pickup beginning Wednesday at the library, 1112 Ligonier St.

• Westmoreland Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for awards to be presented at its annual business meeting in October. Categories include:
Business of the Year, dedicated to community involvement, job growth, employee retention and the growth and promotion of Westmoreland County.
Not-for-Profit of the Year, dedicated to providing exceptional service to residents countywide and continually demonstrating community involvement.
Chamber Member of the Year, an active member who consistently fosters membership and development for the chamber, active in committees and events and creative in promoting and supporting the chamber’s vision.
ATHENA Award, presented to an individual who has achieved the highest level of professional excellence, contributes time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the county and actively assists others, particularly women, in realizing their full leadership potential.
Nomination deadline is July 15.

Reunions
• The 85th reunion of the family of Charles and Effie Keslar, scheduled for Aug. 9 at the Mt. Joy Church pavilion near Mt. Pleasant, has been canceled due to covid-19 safety concerns.
The 2021 reunion is planned for 1 p.m. Aug 8 at the same location.

Special events
• The second annual Touch-a-Truck event is set for noon-4 p.m. Sunday at the Slickville Firemen’s Grounds, Route 819 and Main Street. Event will feature service vehicles, first responders, fire trucks, demonstrations, new vehicle dedications and Italian ice. Paw Patrol costumed characters Marshall and Chase will be on hand from 1-3 p.m.
