Walk for a cure

The annual Susan G. Komen Greater Pennsylvania Virtual More Than Pink Walk is Sunday. The event, which raises money to end breast cancer, is being held virtually. Participants are invited to “Walk Where You Are” on Sunday.

The organization encourages people to walk in their neighborhood, local park or wherever else they are able to socially distance. There is a virtual opening ceremony is at 9 a.m.

Ride on

Kennywood in West Mifflin opens for its 123rd season on Saturday. Most rides should be operating, including the Steel Curtain. The Old Mill, which returned last year, will have its wooden boats floating in the darkness. Remaining closed because of restrictions are the Skycoaster, Noah’s Ark, the 4-D Theater, two indoor play zones in Thomas Town and The Steelers Experience.

Kennywood will recognize the centennial for the Jack Rabbit, now in its 101st year. It’s the fifth-oldest operating coaster in the world.

Customers are required to wear face masks. There will limited capacities of 75% to comply with covid-19 state regulations.

Strike a pose

Relax at “Yoga in the Square” at 10 a.m. Sunday. The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership and several area yoga studios host the one-hour outdoor class in Market Square.

They are free. Participants need to bring a yoga mat.

Masks are required. Attendees will be spaced 10 feet apart.

Participation is limited to 50 people. Walk-ups will be welcomed, space permitting, although pre-registration is suggested here.

Go to market

The Bloomfield Summer Market opens Saturday. Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Located in the heart of Bloomfield at 5050 Liberty Ave., the market offers locally grown, produced, and created items such as produce, cheese, meat, coffee, hummus, prepared hot and cold foods, and more.

The Summer Market is open every Saturday through Nov. 20.

Ornamental

A collection of car hood ornaments are on display at “Cast in Chrome: The Art of Hood Ornaments,” an exhibition at The Car and Carriage Museum of The Frick Pittsburgh.

The exhibition will run through Oct. 31.

The collection features more than 30 hood ornaments. The exhibit shows their inception in the 1910s — as a device to monitor radiator temperature — to their transformation into expressions of status throughout the early 20th century.

The exhibit is free. Timed ticketing is required.
