Vegetables will be plentiful, along with entertainment, education, flowers, food and fun at the Ligonier Country Market.

Ligonier Country Market’s special features on May 25 will include Spirits of the Mountain Sled Dogs.

The dogs include four Alaskan huskies, three Alaskan malamutes and 10 Siberian huskies. They were in shelters or surrendered by their owners.

The dogs train in the Laurel Mountain and surrounding areas and run in competitive races.

Also on Saturday, resources will be available for adults and children from Westmoreland County Behavioral Health and Developmental Services.

By branching out into community events, the organization hopes to spread awareness about behavioral health issues, defuse negative stigmas and provide information to the public, according to market officials.

Newly established Creative Visions Latrobe will offer a program upcycling plastic bottles and creating “fantastic flowers.”

Creative Visions Latrobe is offering a summer art camp in June.

Young visitors to the market and their adult family members can join market mascot, Daisy Mae and her new sidekick, Lilly Lavender, at the Children’s Garden for a fun kids’ craft. The market’s vendors need rain to help their flowers and produce grow. Little shoppers can paint their own “make and take” umbrellas.

The market is open 8 a.m.-noon.
