Shake things up with these Valentine's Day cocktails
It doesn’t matter if it’s surf and turf, a heart-shaped pizza or death by chocolate, Valentine’s Day meals should be chased with a special libation or two.
Soft drinks and tap water just won’t do.
If you are looking to capture your loved one’s, or your intended’s eye, along with his or her heart, something more colorful and bubbly might be in order.
Fine Wine and Good Spirits stores suggest the following easy to assemble and impressive to serve cocktails whenever you happen to be celebrating Cupid’s special day.
Berry Bubbly (COM)
1 ounce Belvedere vodka
½ ounce simple syrup
½ ounce fresh lemon juice
2 ounces Chandon Rosé
Strawberry slices
Add first four ingredients into a shaker filled with ice; shake. Strain into a cocktail glass. Top with sparkling wine. Garnish with strawberry slices on a skewer.
Raspberry Love
2 ounces Bird Dog Kentucky bourbon
1 ounce Chambord liqueur
6 ounces lemon-lime soda
3 fresh raspberries
Combine first two ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. Shake and pour into a tall glass. Top with soda. Garnish with skewered raspberries.
Bleeding Heart
4 ounces Ruffino prosecco, chilled
½ ounce blood orange juice
2 dashes Angostura bitters
1 orange twist
Add first three ingredients to a coupe glass. Swirl to combine and garnish with orange twist.
Berry Caipiroska
1 ½ ounces Belvedere vodka
¼ ounce simple syrup
3 fresh raspberries
2 small lime wedges
Muddle simple syrup and fruits in the bottom of a rocks glass. Add vodka and a scoop of crushed ice; stir gently. Garnish with additional raspberries, if desired.
