Pittsburgh’s Fresh Fest ranks second in USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice contest for beer festivals in the United States.

Billed as the nation’s first black beer festival, the annual event attracts brewers from across the country, along with Pittsburgh-based brewers in collaboration with black artists and businesses.

According to a Fresh Fest release, founder Black Brew Culture’s Mike Potter and The Drinking Partners Podcast’s Day Bracey hosted the inaugural event in 2018.

This year’s festival is set for 1-9 p.m. on Aug. 10 at Nova Place/Alloy 26 on Pittsburgh’s North Side.

“I’m glad word is getting out about Fresh Fest,” Potter says in the release. “People like what we’re doing. We’re collaborating, while growing the black presence in the craft brew industry.”

This year’s festival will host over 70 breweries and collaborations.

“In addition to bringing back some of the great brewers who helped us make last year’s festival a success, we’re welcoming new brewers to the Fresh Fest family,” Bracey says in the release.

Food trucks and live music in the evening will be part of the festival. Tickets range from $45 to $150 (VIP) and are on sale now.
