Get something to-go at Max & Erma’s.
The restaurant chain is auctioning items from its closed North Fayette location along Parkway West. The locations in Cranberry and Monroeville remain open.
People can bid on everything from signs to equipment to a wooden bench at the entrance. A large wooden pirate statue sits next to the bench.
JoAnne Klimovich Harrop | Tribune-Review The Max & Erma’s in North Fayette is closed and this pirate and the benches in the entryway are available through an online auction on Jan. 19.A few corner booths and tables are on the docket, as is a freestanding one-drawer warmer. There is a refrigerator and convection oven. Everything is for sale except for the bar, which would be too difficult to move in only a few days.
The 6,150-square-foot restaurant never reopened after the mandatory shutdown by Gov. Tom Wolf in March because of the pandemic, said Kevin O’Meara, director of operations for Max & Erma’s restaurants.
“I would say covid-19 put us over the edge,” he said. “It’s been a tough year for restaurants. We hope this is the last one where we have to do this and I can get back to managing restaurants, not online auctions.”
Donna Sawhill and Sandy and Bill Kuriger stopped by to inspect some items, especially a kitchen stove that they are interested in bidding on for the Sewickley United Methodist Church. The three are members of the church’s hospitality committee.
“We’ve been looking at the kitchen equipment, some high chairs and this high-top table and chairs, “ said Sawhill. “This table is really nice. We will have to find a way to transport it if we bid on it.”
