Never mind Taco Tuesday. Friday is National Taco Day, and lovers of the cheesy, the saucy, the crunchy are on the hunt for delicious deals.

According to nationaltacoday.com, the word “taco” is the Mexican equivalent of the English “sandwich.” A corn or wheat tortilla is filled with a spicy protein, beef, pork, fish, even tofu, with its consumer typically choosing from extra ingredients like chopped veggies and cheese.

In Pittsburgh, Condado Tacos is offering a free taco with purchase all day at its 971 Liberty Ave. and 4300 Butler St. locations.

The build-your-own taco restaurant also is partnering with retro T-shirt shop Homage to create an exclusive shirt that will be released online and in Homage stores. According to a news release, all Condado T-shirt proceeds will benefit The Columbus Foundation’s Gifts of Kindness fund.

If you are feeling inspired and want to create some tacos at home (and make some pals happy by inviting them over), you can find a few recipes below.

Taco Bell is all in, natch, offering four hard shell tacos, two Crunchy and two Nacho Cheese Doritos locos tacos, for $5.

Top them how you like them, make them mild or hot, but get them today while they’re free.
