Former Pittsburgh Steeler Wes Lyons and Amber Greene, partners in Homestead’s Cakery Square, are expanding their “sweet” business operations.

The two are partnering with founders Walt and Molly Rainey in operating Fudge Farm locations, says Greene, with a June 15 celebration at the Southside location, 1503 E Carson St.

Additionally, the Southside and Waterfront locations will be joined in June by a third Fudge Farm, opening in Bloomfield.

Along with its popular milkshakes, chocolates and fudge, the Fudge Farm will now feature some Cakery Square favorites, including large specialty cupcakes, cannoli, cookies and brownies.

The June 15 celebration will introduce the new owners, menu, website and mission, Greene says.

“It will start at 1 p.m., with 50% off every item in-store from 1-4 p.m.,” she says.

“We’re excited to expand into the Pittsburgh retail landscape and continue to support the community,” Lyons says. “Fudge Farm is an ideal business for us to partner with because we’ll be able to make an even bigger splash within the confectionery business by combining our product offering.”

Through Lyons’ Pursuit Program, Fudge Farm will create jobs and opportunities for underprivileged youth in Homestead and surrounding areas.

The Pursuit Program is a Western Pennsylvania-focused initiative empowering students to become successful adults through real-world training experiences. Local students working at the three Fudge Farm locations will learn business skills and customer service techniques, Greene says.

Fudge Farm also will offer cake decorating classes, host special events and provide fundraising opportunities for schools and local organizations.
